Role overview
As Site Supervisor, you will play a critical role in the on-site coordination and supervision of mechanical and/or electrical installation works. Working closely with the Site Manager and project team, you’ll ensure work is carried out safely, efficiently, and to a high standard. This is a hands-on role suited to someone with practical experience in renewable energy, civil or electrical construction, and team leadership on live construction sites.
Roles and responsibilities
- Supervise daily work activities of site operatives and subcontractors
- Monitor and enforce site health & safety compliance (toolbox talks, PPE, method statements)
- Review and implement RAMS for daily tasks and escalate non-conformance
- Coordinate with Site Manager and Lead Installers to ensure timely progress of works
- Conduct quality inspections on mechanical or electrical installations (depending on discipline)
- Maintain accurate site records, daily diaries, and photo logs
- Ensure materials and tools are available, delegated, tracked and safely stored
- Support the management of deliveries and logistics on site
- Attend daily site briefings and contribute to lookahead planning
- Promote a clean, organised and productive work environment
- Assist in snagging and close-out processes
- Use cloud-based storage and reporting systems to log documentation and updates daily
Experience
Requirements
- Proven experience in a supervisory role on construction or solar PV projects
- Good knowledge of ground mount PV systems and associated installation processes (desired)
- Comfortable interpreting construction drawings and technical documents
- Strong awareness of site health & safety regulations
- Good communication and leadership skills – able to motivate and guide site teams
- Experience working with subcontractors and external stakeholders
- Full UK driving licence
- Confident using spreadsheets, cloud-based storage systems, and digital reporting tools
- Familiarity with Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Drive), or similar systems
Preferred Qualifications
- SSSTS (Site Supervisor Safety Training Scheme) – essential
- First Aid (3-day) – preferred
- Electrical or mechanical trade background – beneficial
